Bridge construction on US 34 near Drake

A 1935 bridge on US 34 over the Big Thompson River at milepost 81 near Drake is being replaced this summer. Motorists can expect intermittent delays for up to 20 minutes.

US 34 will have one lane open in each direction. The lanes have been reduced to about 9.5 feet wide and a width restriction of 8.5 feet is in place. US 34 will remain in this configuration until the end of the $2.6 million project, August 2008, weather permitting.

CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all traffic signs and flaggers and to "Slow for the Cone Zone."
