Three hike down after lightning strike

Lightning struck the ground near a group of eight from Houston, Texas today, July 8, 2008. The family of seven and a friend were hiking together near Mills Lake in the Glacier Gorge area of Rocky Mountain National Park. Mills Lake is approximately 2.8 miles from the Glacier Gorge Trailhead.
Three of the group were thrown to the the ground - two men, one 46 and one 52 and one woman. They suffered minor injuries when they hit the ground. The two men suffered minor burns to their feet and the woman suffered minor burns on her arm. At approximately 12:20 pm park dispatch received a cell phone call. Rangers responded and contacted the three who were ambulatory and walking down the trail. They were treated on scene and declined further medical attention.
