Pack a Picnic Lunch!

Picnic Areas in Rocky Mountain National Park

An important tip for a day in the Park --- Pack a Picnic Lunch!  With your food on-board, you won't need to stop exploring and return to town to eat.  Ask for Take-Out, or a Box Lunch - a number of local restaurants provide them.

The Park provides roadside picnic areas with tables, some with fire grates, and all with beautiful scenery!  Use of portable grills is prohibited in some areas.  Many have vault toilets, with summer flush toilets at Beaver Meadows, Hidden Valley, and Sprague Lake on the East side, and Kawuneeche on the West side.

Day use picnicking is prohibited in all 5 Park Campgrounds through the summer.
