In the higher elevations of the National Forests, especially in Arapaho Notional Forest on the west side, winter snow conditions are excellent for snowmobiling. Snowmobiles are never allowed in wilderness areas. District offices can direct you to areas with reliable snow cover. Register your snowmobile with Colorado State Parks.
Rocky Mountain National Park allows snowmobiling only on a two-mile stretch of the North Supply Access Trail in the southwest corner of the park. This trail connects the town of Grand Lake to a system of Arapaho National Forest trails adjacent to the Park.
