Average temperatures in and around Rocky Mountain National Park range from
well below zero to the upper 80s depending on season and elevation. The
weather resources below can help you plan your trip, but remember that
mountain weather is unpredictable, and you should always be prepared for
storms.
There is no specific forecast for Rocky Mountain National Park, but the
forecasts from the surrounding communites provide a good guide. Note that
most of the park is substantially higher than Estes Park and Grand Lake, and
so temperatures are generally lower.
Estes Park
Estes Park is located at the northeast edge of Rocky Mountain National Park at 7,500 feet (2,286 meters)
above sea level. It receives approximately 13" of precipitation per year.

Trail Ridge Road
Many visitors come to Rocky Mountain National Park specifically to drive over the famous
Trail Ridge Road. Topping out at 12,183 feet, the road is the
highest continuous motorway in the United States. If you are
planning to make the drive, make sure to bring warm clothing no
matter what the temperature is at lower elevations. It has snowed
on Trail Ridge Road during every month of the year.
