Camping in Rocky Mountain National Park

Moraine Park Campground

Moraine Park Campground, open year-round, is 2.5 miles south of the Beaver Meadow Entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park on Bear Lake Road.

245 sites. Reservations are recommended for stays between Memorial Weekend and the end of September. The rest of the year is first-come, first-served and reservatons are not accepted. Expect the campground to fill by early afternoon every day in July and August, and weekends in June and September.  With the Glacier Basin Campground closed during summer 2012, this will be especially true.

Firewood and ice are for sale. Water to the campground is turned on mid-May to Mid-October but here are no electric, water or sewer hookups at any camp sites. The free Fern Lake Shuttle stops here to provide access to trailheads, and the main transfer point for shuttles up to Bear Lake is at the Moraine Park Visitor Center.

Camping fee $20/site/night. After water is turned off the fee is $14/site/night. Length limit: 35 ft motor home / trailer. No more than eight people and two tents, or one vehicle and one camping unit (tent, RV, or trailer/tow vehicle) may occupy each site. Additional vehicles must park in overflow parking areas. Checkout time is noon. Stays are limited to seven nights from June through September; and 14 nights the rest of the year.

In the winter there are group sites for tents only. The fee is $3/person/night. Small sites fit 10-15 people, medium sites 16-25 people, large sites 26-40 people. There is no limit on the number of tents but no more than five vehicles per site.
