Camping in Rocky Mountain National Park

Timber Creek Campground

Timber Creek Campground is the only campground on the West side of the Park.  It is located at 8900 ft along the Colorado River on US Route 34 about eight miles north of the Grand Lake entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, and across the Continental Divide on Trail Ridge Road from Estes Park.

The 98 sites are first-come, first-served; reservatons are not accepted. Water to the campground is on from late May through early November but here are no electric, water or sewer hookups at any camp sites. Flush toilets are available. Firewood is for sale in the summer.
Camping fee $26/site/night. Length limit: 30 ft motor home / trailer. No more than eight people and two tents, or one vehicle and one camping unit (tent, RV, or trailer/tow vehicle) may occupy each site. Additional vehicles must park in overflow parking areas. Checkout time is noon. Stays are limited to seven nights from June through September; and 14 nights the rest of the year.

A mountain pine beetle infestation caused most of the trees to be removed, so there is no shade at campsites.

Amphitheater seating and stage for weddings up to 35 people. Limited parking. Restrooms.
