Junior Ranger programs are available for 3 age groups: 5 and under, 6-8, and 9-12.
Booklets come in English and Spanish and can be picked up at Park Visitor Centers.
Comments from a visitor best describe the impact that the Junior Ranger Kids Program can have:
"I searched the RockyMountainNationalPark.com website before bringing my grandboys 5 and 6 yrs old to the mountains. I wanted them to experience the Elk themselves.
I saw the Junior Ranger Program and when we got to the Gateway Store at the Fall River Park Entrance the boys asked the Rangers if they could have a Junior Ranger Book.
We took two days to go through the park to find everything in their activity books and then turned them in to the Ranger at the Beaver Meadows visitor Center.
The Lady Ranger (I wish I knew her name) went over the book with the boys and asked them many questions about the park, animals ,flowers... and made a great deal about becoming a Junior Ranger, then she came out from behind the desk and made a announcment of two boys from Kansas that just became Junior Rangers in front of visitors and our Grandboys where so proud of themselves and with the biggest smiles on their faces when they received their Jr. Ranger Badges.
Their grandpa and me (grandma) bought them both a Ranger Hat.
These memories will last a lifetime for all of us.
Thank you for a wonderful educational experience."
