Trail Review:

Rating: Easy
Distance: 1.4 miles from the Bierstadt Lake Trailhead; 1.6 miles from the Bear Lake Trailhead
Elevation Gain: 566 feet from Bierstadt Lake Trailhead; 255 feet from Bear Lake Trailhead

There are two main ways to get to Bierstadt Lake. One, from the Bierstadt Lake Trailhead involves a lot of uphill switchbacks. Perhaps the easier way to get to Bierstadt is by starting at the Bear Lake Trailhead and going downhill most of the way.

Along the way from the Bierstadt Lake Trailhead you will hike through dense forests with views of Longs Peak, Hallett Peak, Tyndall Glacier, and Flattop Mountain.

Beginning at the Bear Lake Trailhead, the trail passes by Bear Lake and winds through aspen and pine forests almost all the way down to Bierstadt. Bierstadt Lake is a marshy subalpine lake from which you can see Longs Peak. There is a trail that hugs the entire circumference of the lake so you can enjoy it from every angle.
