Camping in Rocky Mountain National Park

Glacier Basin Campground

Glacier Basin is 6 miles south of the Beaver Meadows Entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park on Bear Lake Road at 8,160 ft elevation.

150 sites are open from Memorial Day Weekend until early September. Reservations are recommended.  The campground often fills by early afternoon every day in July and August, and weekends in June and September.

Water to the campground is on in the summer but here are no electric, water or sewer hookups at any camp sites. Firewood and ice are for sale. The free Shuttles stop here to provide access to trailheads along Bear Lake Road and shops & restaurants in Estes Park.

Pine Beetle damage caused removal of almost all trees in Loops C & D, so there is no shade in those loops or in the Group Site area.

Camping fee $26/site/night. Length limit: 35 ft motor home / trailer. No more than eight people and two tents, or one vehicle and one camping unit (tent, RV, or trailer/tow vehicle) may occupy each site. Additional vehicles must park in overflow parking areas. Checkout time is noon.

There are also group sites for tents only. The fee is $4/person/night. Small sites fit 9-15 people (max 3 vehicles), medium sites 16-25 people (max 4 vehicles), large sites 26-40 people (max 5 vehicles). There is no limit on the number of tents per site.
