Distance (round trip): 6.0 mi.
Elevation Gain: 1,606 ft.
The first two miles of trail heading up to the Estes Cone from the Longs Peak trailhead are relatively easy with mild uphills. The remains of the Eugenia Mine can be explored along the way.
During the last mile, the steepness increases until a rocky and near-vertical climb during the last half-mile. The scramble, however, is worth it for the beautiful 360 views from the top, including Twin Sisters and Longs Peak. Just be sure to account for afternoon thunderstorms during summertime and begin the hike early! Estes Cone can also be reached via the Storm Pass trail.
