Finch Lake is located 4.6 miles from the Finch Lake Trailhead in the Wild Basin Area of Rocky Mountain National Park. This shallow, upper-montane lake is a good choice during peak summer months as it sees slightly less traffic than other Wild Basin destinations. You will find quiet forests with good fishing and backcountry camping options at Finch Lake.
In the fall, you will find the aspen and underbrush especially colorful on the first two miles of the hike. It can also be accessed by the Allenspark Trailhead (where no RNMP fee is required). You can get beautiful views of the Continental Divide from the east and south sides of the lake.
