260 miles of Park trails (about 80% of the Park's trails) are open for horse use. For details, download the Park's Rules of the Trail. These Park trails are recommended for horses, mules, ponies, llamas and burros. No goats allowed. Parking at trailheads often fills up in the summer - start your ride early to have room to park your trailer.
Areas of the Park where stock is NOT permitted:
East Side of Continental Divide (Estes Park side)
West Side of Continental Divide (Grand Lake side)
Forest trails are open to horseback riders.
Hermit Park (operated by Larimer County) is close to Estes Park, and a great place to ride with horse campground spots and good trailer parking.
