Winter Family Activities

Join a Ranger to explore the winter world of Rocky Mountain National Park.

On the East side of the Park, Snowshoe Ecology Walks are a fun winter family activity.  In 2019 they will be held Jan 6 through March 17 on  Fri. & Sun.,  from 12:30 - 2:00 pm. with no programs on Jan 20 and Feb 17. 

Participants must be 8 years of age or older, and will need to bring your own snowshoes or traction devices depending on snow conditions.  Reservations are required and can be made a week ahead of time - call (970) 586-1223.

Ski Kawuneechee Valley with a Ranger!  Winter Skiing Programs begin from Jan 26, 2019 - Feb. 23, 2019.  For program times & dates and to reserve your place call (970) 627-3471 up to one week ahead of time.

Full Moon Walks are another great outdoor activity in winter that the whole family can enjoy.

Join a Ranger to explore the Park under the light of the full moon on Dec. 22, 2018 and Jan. 19, Feb. 19, and Mar. 20, 2019

Reservations are necessary  - call (970) 586-1223 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to reserve a spot no more than 7 days in advance.  Maximum six people per reservation.

Another family activity in the Park during winter is the Winter Wonders  program on Sat. & Sun. from 10 am to 10:30 am at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center.
